State Spending Out of Control

With all of the talk of NYS spending being out of control I decided to wander over to the Empire Center, a Manhattan Institute for Policy Research think tank. They have some interesting stuff over there. For instance, did you know that "New York lawmakers in 2007 were paid the third highest annual base salary at $79,500, according to the latest National Conference for State Legislatures salary figures. Only lawmakers in California and Michigan were paid more."

Not only that, but NYS legistators ranked fourth in the nation for spending per member.

Our spending is out of control! Check out more of what the Empire Center has on their site.

spending is out of control, especially by those who run things in Albany!

You mean Aubertine and those jokers get 80 K a year? That is incredible.

There was just a story out the other day that these elected officials hire staff on the state's dime too. I wonder how much Aubertine's pot-smoking press secretary makes, or how much his sister rakes in for doing some sort of bogus constituent relations work?

We need to send some real pork-busters to Albany next time around. I am sure we can find some who are more than willing to do it for under 80 thousand a year.

New York ranks second in the country for per capita spending on state and local government services/labor at an average of $11,375 per person. That's over 11K dollars spend on government per person. Other states were able to manage their affairs with less than 7 K per person. We have too much regulation and too many special interests in Albany!
